The commercialism of Christmas caused Nancy Gavin to give her husband an unusual Christmas gift — the gift of donating wrestling gear to a local school sponsored by an inner city church. She let him know by an inconspicuous white envelope tucked in the branches of the Christmas Tree. Her husband loved it and the White Envelope tradition began.
